New CD (Yi Nian)

In March of 2006 the Ah-Q Jazz Arkestra went into the studio; a converted theatre classroom on the outskirts of Beijing.  In three live sessions the band laid down 18 tracks, nine vocal and nine instrumental, that would form their first CD release entitled “Yi Nian” (One Year).  The double CD features a wide range of styles and playing in the jazz genre, including a blazing vocal remake of My Favorite Things, a funk adaptation of an Ornette Coleman classic, Old Gospel, and nine instrumental originals written by Roberts, Beckstead and Liu Xiaoguang.  See the downloads link for some free MP3 samples.
